Taste of Cuenca

Today we enjoyed a "Taste of Cuenca" event at a nearby plaza. We each bought a $5.00 ticket and then enjoyed samples of pizza, sausage, brownies, cookies, jalapeƱo peppers, breads, jellies, and much more from local vendors. Many expat friends were there.

Afterwards, we walked to a seafood restaurant, La Marisqueria de Pedro, that was highly recommended by our friends Jaci and Micki. You can see them in the picture above, lower left. Well, we got lost, not lost, we just couldn't find it. Much to our surprise, friends of Jaci and Micki saw us in the area and came to our rescue!  They walked us to the restaurant and introduced us to the owner. The restaurant is a local favorite. However, we were welcomed with open arms. The food was excellent. I had Camerones al Ajillo (Garlic Shrimp). Mike had Corvina, a popular fish much like Talapia.

On our walk home we saw this beautiful hedge of lantana. Lantana is often used as a privacy hedge here.

Since I am on the subject of food I must mention that Mike made homemade potato soup for dinner last night. It was delicious. The leftovers, for dinner tonight, were just as good!
